Monthly and Special Events

  • The paintings of Kevin Hill – an artist who grew up in London and has now lived in Basel for 50 years – are characterized by a fantastic sense of the play of light and shadow. Using ink, brush, and pen, he paints – among other things – landscapes from his native Northern Ireland, as well as scenes from his Basel surroundings. His independent, yet loving view of familiar Basel motifs, such as Schützenmatt Park or St. Paul's Church, allows the city's beauty to be felt in all its facets.

Current Vacancies

  • The main objective for this role is to ensure the organisation of the 12 monthly Apéros per year with the support of a team of volunteers. Planning and purchasing material is as important as building and maintaining a team of four or five volunteers. You will need to have good organisation and planning skills as well as good attention to detail. Clear and concise communication skills are also key in this role as well as having enthusiasm and being able to interact well with other volunteers, members and general public.

This volunteering opportunity will start by January 2026. For further information, questions and contact, please reach out to Maarten under volunteers[at]centrepoint.ch

  • Centrepoint is looking for volunteers to help at events during the day or the evening. We intend to create a pool of volunteers, to whom we send an e-mail when an event is coming up. The volunteers just sign up when they are available.

What will you do? Basically you assist the leader of the event in registering the participants, organising the payments, preparing the set up (and apero if needed) and related issues. You will be trained by the Volunteers or Activities Coordinator about how to proceed.

We are looking in particular for volunteers supporting events such as workshops, talks, vernissages, presentations and trips.

If you are interested, please contact our Activities Coordinator, directly at activities[at]centrepoint.ch or our Volunteering Coordinator, directly at activities[at]centrepoint.ch

„Centrepoint is a great place if you want to connect with people. Volunteering is the way to get in touch with the club members, socialise and learn about the fascinating stories they have to share.“

Heidrun, Vice President and Communications Coordinator

Wouter

„Apart from the language lessons, trips, talks and aperos, Centrepoint is the place to meet people from diverse and interesting backgrounds. Giving back to a community that has done so much for me is very satisfying. Centrepoint has people at its heart, and its heart is for the people.“

Wouter, Volunteer Coordinator

Michelle

„I’m excited about my role as Trips Coordinator and the chance to discover more about the beautiful city of Basel and its surroundings. It’s also a great way to support Centrepoint, since all its activities are managed entirely by volunteers.“

Michelle, Trips Coordinator

Bronwen

„Almost anything can be interesting if you dig deep enough. That’s why I agreed to take over as Talks Coordinator – and because nothing virtual can ever match the concentration and excitement of a live, in-person event.“

Bronwen, Talks Coordinator

Jan

„Centrepoint is the result of a unique vision and a dedicated team of volunteers. I am proud of what all of us, from the oldest to the newest members, have accomplished over the years. May our "home" in the beautiful Lohnhof continue to thrive as a place where everyone feels welcome, enjoys meeting people and has the urge to get involved.“

Jan, Centrepoint founding members and, well over 25 years later, still an active member and volunteer
